Thursday, August 1st
6:00pm    

  • Meet at hotel
  • Premier Hotel Waring St. (Cathedral District) Belfast city, Northern Ireland
  • To start your learning: Did you know that Belfast city is partly in County Antrim but also County Down…check it out for yourself!

6:30pm     

  • Meet & Greet and Welcome Dinner at hotel
  • Briefing & Orientation and meet our facilitator, Paul.

Friday, August 2nd

8:30am         

  • Breakfast in hotel

10:00am       

  • Walking tour of Belfast, with local guide and insight into the local communities
    Please come prepared to walk and have a water bottle with you.
  • A History of Terror—Local resident and guide, Mark, will walk us back in time and reveal many of the local stories that form a part of The Troubles—this is a very personal and unique experience to walk in the footsteps of the local communities.
  • What you will learn: This tour explains how The Troubles began. We tell the stories of the people involved, their place in the conflict and the effect these attacks and incidents had on the city and its people. We do all this from an entirely neutral, civilian perspective. The tour also shows how far the city has come since the ceasefires and Peace Process.

  • Lunch on your own

3:00pm    

  • Travel to Portaferry 
  • Depart from hotel in minivan/bus (travel approximately 1 hour).

4:30pm    

6:00pm     

  • Group dinner:  Narrows Portaferry

Saturday, August 3rd
8:30am    

  • Breakfast at hotel

10:00am    

  • Peace Workshop with Paul Smyth of Politics in Action (PIA)
    “We are change-makers, co-creators of solutions, reimagining politics, and holding those in power to account.”  -PIA

12:30pm      

  • Lunch and local sightseeing in your own
  • Explore this quaint costal town in County Down in Northern Ireland.

2:30pm    

  • Discussion group with locals 

6:00pm    

  • Return to Belfast

7:30pm    

  • Group dinner in a local Belfast restaurant—check out the city, especially the Titanic Quarter!

Sunday, August 4th
8:00am     

  • Breakfast at hotel

9:00am            

  • Optional Titanic Experience and Tour
    Not included in the cost but can be organised at a group rate. Highly recommended!! Must be booked with our group—The Global Impact Team will be in touch with you. 

Lunch on your own / get a snack for the bus!

12:10pm    

  • Meet at the bus station for 12:20pm departure.  

Travel to Limerick by bus from Belfast airport to Dublin airport and connect to a coach to the University of Limerick (approximately 4-5 hours plus the change in Dublin. Cost not included in price paid and will be approximately £30 per person).

7:00pm     

  • Arrive at Limerick University

What to Bring:
Participants are advised to bring layers because the weather is unpredictable. We suggest a sweater, rain jacket, jeans or pants, and comfortable shoes. Temperatures may vary with rain a possibility, also sunscreen—just in case!
